SANTA BARBARA, CA: The LOOP has become a hot topic around Santa Barbara since breaking ground in early July. “We decided to do the greenest development Isla Vista had ever seen,” said MLP CEO Neil Dipaola, a former Isla Vista resident who graduated from UCSB with a degree in environmental science. Dipaola added that Isla Vista’s history as a hotbed for environmental awareness makes it an ideal location for the project. With support from the US Department of Energy and access to cutting edge technology from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the building will gain national recognition for its off the chart energy savings. Additionally, the LOOP will stimulate the local economy by increasing sales for local businesses and offering new commercial/retail opportunities.
