Net-Zero Energy Student Housing Project Breaks Ground at UCSB


SANTA BARBARA, CA: Mesa Lane Partners commences construction of The LOOP student housing development in Santa Barbara, CA after securing $11 million in senior financing from Bank of the West and an additional $1.5 million from Santa Barbara County’s Redevelopment Agency. This 44,994 square foot development will introduce 48 residential units, 140 student beds, and 8,000 square feet of commercial space to a prominent corner of downtown Isla Vista, the student residential community adjacent to the University of California, Santa Barbara. “This project is a game changer for UC Santa Barbara and the building industry as a whole,” explains Neil Dipaola of Mesa Lane Partners, the project’s developer. “From the numerous resident amenities to the introduction of cutting-edge green technology, every aspect of the building is designed to be mindful of the resident experience and respectful of the local and global environment.”
